Meditation Background
I’ve graduated the 18 month, Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation Training program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. I began meditation in the early 90′s studying Zen while in college.
Finished the yearlong Contemplative Psychotherapy module, part of a longer program at: https://nalandainstitute.org/
Kripalu certified yoga teacher since 1994, having take over 1,400 hours of somatic training, including study of the body to gain a massage therapy license.
I retired from doing shiatsu bodywork during Covid, I now teach practices online.
I have “sat” intensive, silent mindfulness meditation retreats ranging from 7 days to six weeks in length. Meditating from morning till night in silence.
Take this gentleman, who looks pretty warm and fuzzy, but was in fact a super strict and fearsome meditation instructor. As a Buddhist monk, (he thought nothing of telling us to meditate through the night.) He was wonderful and truly inspiring- he thought nothing less than enlightenment should be the goal. Here is more about him from Lion’s Roar magazine.
My Western teachers have included Myoshin Kelley and Joseph Goldstein. I also have practiced under the guidance of Chanmay Sayadaw and Sayadaw U Pandita, both are highly respected Burmese monks and meditation masters. Most of this practice takes place at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA.
